My sister won't let the family see our elderly Dad. What can we do?

My father is 88 yrs. old, very frail, and has dementia. He also has heart problems and a pace maker working at 80%. My sister took him from his home and he is now living with her in Ithaca, NY. She says that she is moving soon and won't tell us if she is taking our father with her or what.

I think it's also time to contact an attorney in addition to doing a welfare check. I knew of someone who's mother disappeared totally under this kind of circumstance. It took months for my friend to find her mom.

I agree with requesting a welfare check. Not sure how old your sister is, but could she be developing some health problems or dementia of her own? Does anyone have POA? Is this type of behavior new for her?

I hate to ask, but does he have a lot of money? Is that why she took him? Have you thought about asking the NYS troopers to check on his welfare?
