Medicaid cut backs on medications. Anyone heard of this?
I just found out that my brothers Namenda is no longer paid for by Medicaid. He has been off if it now for about a week now, and find that he is starting to get angry towards the later part of the afternoon. Has anyone else run into this?
Shorty, try calling the Forest Pharmaceutical hotline for their PAP (patient assistance program) 800-851-0758 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM (CT), Monday - Friday If approved they will send you a 3 month supply.
Call his caseworker about what may be recommended in place of Namenda. The 5mg and 10mg was actually discontinued and replaced by Namenda XR. So 10 mg Namenda is replaced by 28mg Namenda XR.
I've had to deal with Medicaid drug denials several times. Appealing requires a doctor's letter. We always eventually got the drug approved. It is worth an appeal.
