There's a great source for this -- footsmart -- they have all kinds of great socks, shoes, slippers, orthopedic accessories, velcro-strap shoes, etc. I used this catalog and their website quite a bit for my elderly dad when he was with us.

I should have typed silverts. They have a website and catalog of all such adaptive clothing. I don't know how to share a hyperlink. Sorry about the confusion.

The soft slipper bootie works well...I wish you luck on them...and they are so soft and warm...with a rubber bottom...I think they are wonderful...

Those no skid socks will help him a lot..to break a hip!....OLD PEOPLE...slide along as they go...they do not lift there feet so much...they have a new boot type slipper...that have either wool or a soft inside...they come in all sizes...mostly for women...but men can wear them too...they come up to the shin bone...and they can be worn in the bed...in the winter I wear mine to bed..they have enough traction not to slip and enough slide to get along..things with to much traction can damage the ham strings..stopping suddenly..Think about these as an alternative to socks..they are not tight and they stay on all night...my home is cool all year...Just have him stand on a cardboard and draw around his foot...cut out the drawing..and slip it into a bottie at walmart...if the drawing fits in without Bending...YOU GOT HIS SIZE...they come in Black grey and brown..and different heights too...I LOVE MINE and have over 4 pair...GOOD LUCK..

It's my 85 yr old dad who she's watching who she's wanting the socks for. Never thought of the catching problem. Good point. I think it's my dad who's wanting to wear socks to bed. I'm guessing the slippers aren't the answer because when dad first wakes up, he's often disoriented and probably doesn't even think to put on slippers.

I'll talk to my sis in law though, and narrow the question of why she's wanting non skid socks vs slippers vs bare feet.. Thanks!

Does sister-in-law's husband walk barefoot? If so, no socks are needed.

I've tried to wear those non-skid socks, and I felt like I was always going to trip because of those things on the bottom would catch on the carpet.... like trying to walk wearing Velcro, catching on everything.

Plus wearing socks to bed will make his whole body feel very warm. Good for winter, terrible for summer.

Better to find a good pair of slippers.
