Can a POA withhold a parent's Will from other siblings?

Actually, and depending on the state, I'm not certain the children actually have a right to see the will. My mother's lawyer was telling me something about this. I think I was asking him if everyone named in Mom's will needed to get a copy and I can't remember his answer, but I'm actually not certain anyone in particular actually has the "right" to see it.

If you have to know, check with a lawyer in your own jurisdiction to find out. Also,if the will was registered (is that the right word) with the local government (in my locality, it's with the county where you do this), I don't know if it then becomes part of the public record.

Yes she can withhold that. If mom didn't show you, why should her POA do that? When mom dies the POA will no longer be in effect and the executor of the will should follow it's instructions. Why do you need it now?

No, she can't withhold your mother's will from the rest of the siblings. Being POA does not give her that authority.

You can ASK to see the will. But, in my opinion, it's a very callous thing to do. I sure wouldn't do it. The will says what it says. Is what it is. Your curiosity comes off as completely inappropriate at this sensitive time.
