I have been told that my cousin's needs have changed and they are re-evaluating her for more skilled care. She is in Assisted Living now and has done well until she recently fell and fractured her spine and then her hand. She now is in wheelchair since she can't use her walker due to her hand being broken.
She can stand and get in and out of bed with assistance of one person. She can also use the bathroom, but she suffers from significant dementia and is refusing to get out of bed in the morning. She's using the bathroom on herself and won't let them clean her.
Can they transfer her to their nursing home next door? Will a Dementia Unit at another facility be a better choice for someone like her?
I'm meeting with the director tomorrow about this. How long will they give me to make alternate arrangements for her care?
