My husband has Alzheimer's dementia. He wants to go to bed by 9:00 pm then gets up at 3:00 am trying to leave our home. I have a security alarm service that calls me when the alarm starts. I am hearing impaired so I don't always hear him leave his room. Someone suggested perhaps Benadryl would help him sleep. Has anyone had any positive or negative results using it to induce better sleep? I am becoming worn out due to losing sleep once I get him back to bed. Thanks for any help or information. sharirose78

But I definitely encourage you to pursue some relief for the disrupted sleep. Sleep problem are a prime factor in care facility placement for those with dementia. Discuss this with the doctor. If the doc's first attempt isn't successful, ask for another attempt. This is a serious problem and deserves serious attention.
