Is there a program where someone would come to the home to visit my husband, who suffers from severe depression, while I'm at work?

My husband has major depressive disorder. He has become suicidal at times. Last Friday he tried to take his life. He is home and he told his doctor he gets lonely during the day, I work the doctor is trying to get him into an outpatient facility, but that will only last for a week or two. He really needs to have someone friendly to visit with a few times a week, just to talk. Is there an organization that anyone knows that would be able to help.
