Can she qualify for Medi-Cal?

I claim my 99 yr old mother as a dependent on my tax returns. I help pay for the costs for her board/care home. I would like to know if her income eligibility for Medi-Cal is based on my contribution towards the care-home, which exceeds the $16,105 per individual income eligibility.

First off, STOP claiming her as a dependent. Oh, the IRS really gets their panties in a knot when a person gets Medicaid and they are your dependent.
They want at least 5 years of mom's financials. Be honest, say you paid it and say you can't afford to do this anymore. As long as she didn't sign her house over or give money away within 5 years, you should be good to go.

Thanks, will look into it!

Sounds like you need to speak with an elder law attorney. You can contact the Area Agency on Aging or Bureau of Senior Services to locate an attorney. They may also have a legal referral program where you mom could see an attorney for advise for free or a reduced cost.
