My Mom (82) has swollen and purple ankles suddenly. What is this condition?

Babalou is correct. Urgent Care, Mash, ER, any "doc in a box" that will take her insurance is good. Do it now.

I would take her to urgent care or er today.

Good morning, zoriteck. I don't know what could be wrong, but she needs to see a doctor immediately. Is she diabetic? I would suspect it is something with her heart and circulation. A doctor should be able to give good guidance and treatment.
