Anyone experience with dementia patients who hear someone 'knocking' on a door in the night?

Mom who has dementia does this off and on---saying she hears someone knocking at the door and gets up to see who's there. She also talks in her sleep to my siblings as if they were still small children and sometimes her mother, father and husband (now deceased). No she does not have a UTI as I have had that checked many times.

I think some of us, ourselves, experience waking up in a start from a dream because we thought we heard the front doorbell ring or heard someone knocking at the door. I know I have gotten up in the wee hours and peeked out the upstairs' windows to see if there is a car in the driveway with its lights on. No car, then I know it was a dream that *sounded* very real.

We did not have this problem exactly, but during the moderate stage of Alz. she did 'see' people in her room and was actually quite pleased to see them. I was glad she was not having scary delusions or hallucinations as some Alz patients do. Does your mom have Alz? because it can cause hallucinations, on another site I remember one post where her husband saw wolves outside of their windows. So it is possible that she is having auditory hallucinations, as long as it is not scary to her, it should be OK. Blessings to you, Lindaz.

Mom often mixes up dreams with actual events and rescripts them
