Can a nursing home refuse a patient if he wants to go to the hospital?
My dad's been complaining about in his stomach for two months now and the nursing home told him that they weren't going to send him to the hospital because ''they didnt have a reason'' can they refuse his request to get help from the er
Has the facility Dr. examined your dad? Does your dad have prior issues with his stomach?
A facility can't send everyone with a physical complaint to the ER or everyone would go to the ER but the Dr. at the facility should at least talk to your dad and do an exam to see if there could be a problem.
If this has been going on for 2 months, it doesn't sound like an "emergency." Has he been examined by the nursing home doctor? Have you (or someone) taken him to see his own PCP during office hours? That his stomach is bothering him does seem to me to warrant medical attention. Whether it needs a trip to the ER is a different question.
Can you tell us what has been done about his stomach complaints to date?
