I took care of several relatives until they passed. After they passed I decided to return to school to get my undergraduate degree in gerontology. I am nearing the end of my schoolwork and am feeling anxious about returning to work. It will have been close to 4 years since I have been in the workforce. On top of that, I am nearing retirement age and am not sure who will hire me! Does anyone have suggestions on an older caregiver returning to a new field? (I was previously an administrative assistant for over 30 years) I know care/case managers will be needed, just not sure where to begin. I've worked a little with the career center at college but they haven't been very helpful. The local gerontological society is pretty vague as well. Suggestions? Thanks!
