My father-in-law sleeps all the time and gets aggressive if you try to do anything to him. Any advice?
ie clean him he wont eat and drink. He has a urine infection hasn't ate now for 5 days. He hasn't drank for 3 days and but when he has drunk its like 50ml in a day we have been told he has end of life dementia wont take any medicines at all either
While you are waiting to hear back from the doctor Google stages and signs of the dying process, this may help you. Sleeping longer and not eating and drinking are the signs that I experienced before the end of life. As the others have said her either call his doctor or talk to hispice people.
When my husband was on hospice care, they told us that sleeping more than 20 hours a day was a sign the end was near. He reached that. The few hours he was awake he was alert, sometimes ate, liked popscycles, and could talk pretty coherently. He died in his fifth week of hospice care.
What your FIL is going through may be related to the infection. Or it could be end-of-life behavior. If you do not currently have hospice care for him, I recommend it.
Is your FIL in a hospice center or nursing home? They could probably give you some input based on their experience. Who told you that he has end of life dementia? Are you the health care POA?
I have read on this site about those who are near the end of this life. I haven't encountered that with my loved ones yet, but hopefully some people here who have can post what they have encountered.
