I have to go to court to appeal my Mom's denial for Medicaid. Should I get a lawyer?

In Sept.I placed my mom in a NH contingent upon her qualifying for Medicaid. I provided the NH with cking statements for 3 months,amount of life insurance and set up a Miller Trust account because her 2 monthly checks gross were $200 over the limit for Medicaid in the state of GA. The only assets my mom has are social security check and V.A. aid and attendance. I appealed her denial for Medicaid as a result I have to go before a judge. Would it be in my mom's best interest to try and obtain a lawyer to go with me? The hearing is being held in the county of the NH is this usually the protocol used?

Take the original documents to court. Be sure to take your entire application packet with you. That should resolve the whole thing.

Supposedly I did not provide an award letter from the VA.I did provide the NH with a copy of the VA letter they were supposed to have faxed everything to the case manager on my behalf. On one occasion in the early stages the NH staff called me to say I did not have documentation that I had set up a Miller Trust Fund for mom. I emphatically reminded them I had and when they looked thru the papers again they conveniently found it.

Why was she denied? If you don't know, you need a lawyer.
