I have two degrees, (obsolete). Would go for diagnostic ultrasound or P.A. I have a BFA, and a technical/professional two-year degree in commercial photography. My house is paid off, so I'm not moving any time soon. I live in an area with over 14% unemployment, just a smattering of retail min.wage jobs, which I won't be considered for...have the ol' overqualified thing going on. Mom is my fourth care-recipient, I'm 58. While I don't dwell on her passing and re-entry into the work force, I've depleted my savings in family member #3's care adventure, and the five years Mom has been my roomie. (Commuted to her house 45 mi. down south every-second or third day since 1994.) Would like to begin online now, so I've got an action plan. Since I have degrees, I don't qualify for Pell. Only two schools are in my area for ultrasound. Register now, get student loans, MUST ATTEND IN PERSON, waiting list is for 2017 , and it's $65,000 for the year and a half program. (If I could afford an -in home person I'd be working; it's totally cost prohibitive.) Any leads/ideas would be helpful!

I just don't see a creative bring content being an ultrasound tech.....you'll work longer if it's something you enjoy rather than do because you have too.
For health care jobs, personally id be really concerned that as hospital groups continue the buy out of MD practices, & continued consolidation of smaller hospitals & clinics, that less & less workers will be needed. Plus no matter what age discrimination laws say, employers are going to see an application from a 28 yr old tech & a 58 yr old tech - both recent grads from the same ultrasound program - they are going to hire the younger one. Creative industries dont see age quite the same as a lot of the top tier are themselves in their 70's or 80's.
Whatever the case, you need to be technology savvy. Mac for creative industries, pc for the rest. In many areas, the public library has grants for basic computer classes, some even do website development. You can take the same class over & over if need be.
