What are the beginning stages to end stages of dementia?

Systems of Dementia

pamstegma Feb 2015
Minor short term memory losses appear first. Second, the person loses a sense of direction while driving. The third thing I noticed was trouble reading when mom stopped getting books and magazines. Fourth was the mood swings, and that was when we need to get her anxiety meds, after a stroke. Fifth we added an antidepressant when we had to take the car away. Sixth, walking and balance became difficult and falls were frequent. Seventh she would forget to bathe, insisting she showered yesterday, but yesterday had no real meaning. Eighth, she can no longer dial the telephone or turn on the TV, and these are skills that were deeply embedded long term memory.
Not all dementia patients are the same. We have been lucky so far that she is not hallucinating, she is not paranoid, she is not fearful or aggressive. She is, on the other hand, hoping God calls her home soon.
