Is there any volunteers to help keep the elders company? Just visit. No work.

My mom lives alone and is recovering from stroke. I am there for all appointments and do not have any relief. She get lonely but I have a husband also. I spend some nights with her. Company only.

Check with the Visiting Nurse association; in this area they have a program for volunteers who visit hospice patients in their homes. A friend of mine volunteers with them and has had good experiences with them.

You can also check with your faith community or your township or city offices. I have been a "Friendly Visitor" volunteer through my local township office, managed out of a Catholic charity. So if you don't find something right away, keep asking around. Ask friends or co-workers or at church.

If your loved one likes dogs contact Therapy Dogs International. If they have volunteers in your area, they can come and hang out with your loved one with their dog. :)

Depending on where you live they do have people to come and sit with your loved one to give family a break it's called respite care. If you have a home health care agency you can call ask them about respite volunteers.

Your best bet is to contact your area Agency on Aging to see if your county has such a program or whom they would suggest. https://www.agingcare.com/local/Area-Agency-on-Aging
