I was the financial POA for my Mom, who died last month. Why can't I now access her bank account?
My mother had funds remaining in her checking account that I would like to use now towards her funeral expenses, but I was told by her bank that I no longer have access. What's going on?
The bank is correct. Your POA ends at death. Now, you go to the bank with the death certificate and the original Will that names you as Executor of her estate. The Executor is now in charge.
