My Dad (92) can no longer trim his toenails. Can we get help?

Medicare pays for podiatrist visits. If you can't get your Dad to the office, ask around about which ones may make house calls. The balance may be paid in part of full by secondary insurance depending upon the plan.

Try Medicare. There are some I stances where Medicare will pay podiatrist's costs for toe nails. In my case they did until the law was changed. For a parent (or parents) as old as your parents are, I would certainly try. It does pay for anyone having diabetes. Check with a person who should know for specific answers. (Person familiar with elderly, elderly benefits--not necessarily a lawyer or probably NOT a lawyer))

One of the wonderful benefits of both facilities like nursing homes and adult day cares is that podiatrists call in to trim toenails. Is there an adult daycare nearby that your dad could attend?

There is not any free help available. Can you get him to a podiatrist to have his toenails trimmed.

Where does their doctor say they should be living. It may be helpful to have a social worker to come over and evaluate their situation. We must sometimes face the facts that what our parents want and what they need are not always the same thing. I wish you the best in dealing with this.
