Hardship exemptions are granted to, for example, a daughter who lived with and cared for her mother for 2 years or more, or a disabled adult child who resides in the home. MERP does not want to displace them, they will allow them to stay in the home. They will still have to pay utilities and taxes and upkeep on the property. They cannot sell the property. If you received a hardship notice, respond by the deadline.
