I know he wants to talk but whatever the topic is he does not agree and gets mean and rude. When a person just sits and yells at me telling me to Go to H--l. I am staying calm but inside its a struggle.
Please read all the good stuff on this site about dealing with dementia. You cannot reason with or get mad. The person has no idea they are being unreasonable. You have to roll with, tell thereputic fibs or whatever to keep things calm.
acaringperson, I see from your profile that the person you are caring has Alzheimer's/Dementia.... please note when that person is yelling at you, it probably is the Dementia talking. Yet again, some people will act that way in a normal setting if someone doesn't agree :P
A healthy debate is always good, but when the meanness and rudeness starts, the debate is over. Are you able to walk out of the room when that happens or does the person follow you still yelling?
