DPOA, what are the steps without an attorney?

Check with your state's website, it may have pertinent info and guidance on the state laws for poa, and in my state they even have the forms right there, for free, with lots of helpful info on who to choose, cautions, etc. You do not need an attorney to simply name a poa. It might be a good idea but it's an expense most folks can't afford, so if you read up on how your state laws affect poa you can save the lawyer fees.

Just checked the reviews on LegalZoom lots of complaints with the service but not the product so much. It was a good start, I will delve further:)

I'm not plugging this site exclusively, but LegalZoom (and probably others like it) will walk you through the process for obtaining all sorts of documents. You're asked all sorts of questions, which you answer, and the document is drawn up based on your answers. They then email and/or mail you a copy, and then you can get it notarized/witnessed.

I searched the forum but the info I found does not talk about the process of obtaining DPOA it's mostly about what it is. I could easily have missed something though.
