Are in-home nursing services after knee replacement included as medical expenses for schedule A deduction?
86 year old mother had full knee replacement surgery. After coming home from rehab facility she had a private nursing service provide a nurse at home. She paid out of pocket with no reimbursement from any insurance.
Ahhh who paid the payroll taxes? Was there a written agreement? Did mom issue the payee a 1099? Was this an RN? It could get pretty dicey with the IRS if payments were "under the table"
This is tax question, correct? I believe that if the amount paid reaches the threshold of deductibility, and we're ordered by a doctor, they are deductible. What do the instructions for schedule A say?
