VA Aid & Attendance does pay a "pension" to widows of honorable d/c veterans who served at least 1 day of active duty (in most "wars"). However you receiving the check to cover your hours In caregiving, hm, you'll have to find out from VA if they pay for family providing in-home care. (I would love to find out that they do, as my mom is about 2-3 yrs from being in similar situation). My understanding is they pay for facility care or non-family CG's to come to the veteran's home.....but I might not know everything. Hopefully someone here will be more experienced with this finer point.

My father was a WW11 vet. Mother divorced him before he went to war and remarried him after the war was over. She gets about $1200 per month from his pension. She was NOT married to him during the time he was in the army. She was married to him when he died.
