How do I plan ahead to arrange for my own cremation or burial in a cemetery?

I'm a Rochdale MA resident with no kin in MA. Single male age 78. My preference is no funeral , traditional casket burial or cremation with brass marker over the grave. I would also like the option at a future time, to choose burial in my home town in the Pittsburgh,PA area.

Walk into a local funeral parlor. They'll walk you thru the process...you can make all of the decisions. I will be doing the same thing shortly...prolly this winter. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

I would contact either cemeteries or funeral homes with cremation services to find out how someone can be identified to handle the cremation or burial. Are there any friends or business associates who can handle the arrangements for you?

You could purchase the marker, funeral plot and/or cremation jar ahead of time though.
