My partner's fluid intake is way down. I cannot get him to drink. Any advice?

I will try again today to increase his intake. Not only that, he has lost 20 # even though he is eating. His legs are looking like sticks. His urine outgo is down way down. He saw the pain mgt Dr yesterday and he is going to get shots in his lower back. I am concerned with him even making it through the surgery. Its not really surgery, but they give him that amnesia drug. His strength is way down and he is so weak. The nurse comes today. I have a feeling it is time for Hospice. What are your thoughts?
