The VA has programs he is eligible for. Do you have long term care VA facilities where he is? Are there any resources? Does he have his own home? There are financial requirements to qualify. Are you his POA?
Do you mean he was just discharged from a VA hospital, and that he's now homeless?
Contact your county offices to locate a social worker, veterans affairs assistance or protective services and explain the situation to them. They might be able to locate a temporary shelter for him.
Or call 211, the United Way helpline. They should be able to give you information on shelters where he can go.
The NJ state offices might also have a veteran's department, or an elder law agency that could help locate homeless shelters.
Salvation Army ( and I believe Grace Centers of Hope) also have facilities for homeless people.
Good luck - I hope you find something that's workable for your friend.
