Research "Medicaid preplanning services". There are professionals and attorneys that do this. Its legal and above board but don't do this solo. Complicated process but worth exploring. All states differ in their laws. I live in CA and was surprised it was not as hard as I thought it would be. Definitely seek professional advice.
If she is going to be on Medicaid within the next five years, I doubt there is any way to protect it. If it's your money, I can't imagine why you put her name on it. If it's HER money, it should rightfully be used for her care. See an Elder Law attorney.
