A caregiver is stealing money, when you make a complaint to law enforcement and APS will they follow through?
Caregiver is having elderly couple make grocery checks out weekly for 350.00 which are made out to her personally, and sometimes credit card purchases, she is still working for the same agency and they are aware of this.
I am also a caregiver in the house and know exactly now what is bought for groceries. All medical supplies are already paid separately. In the month of may, he was in the VA hospital the entire month, so the groceries were only for the wife, she made out 3 checks for 350.00, 1 for 400.00 and one for 500.00, when confronted by our company after i gave them proof, she said it was for a portable air conditioner which was never brought to the house and this couple like it hot even in our june july months, she wsnts the heat on and he opens all the windows. She then said she was returning it because it was broken, this was five weeks later then when she cashed the check. The lady has dementia, the man is forgetful but knows what is going on. He is very trusting of this girl and would do anything she says. I am the one who brought it to their attention and filed a report, only after i had a very large amount of proof. I have never done this before but truly believe you dont take what isnt yours and never take advantage of the elderly. She said she always gave them back the change, he never has a dollar on him. It is in the hands of APS, will they do anything?
Need more information, such as how are you finding out that money is being taken? Were you a witness or is this coming from the elderly couple themselves? Who made the complaint to the Caregiver's agency?
Any Alzheimer's/Dementia with this couple? If yes, please note those with Alzheimer's/Dementia will make up stories.
The amount $350 might seem high [food for 3 people], but the cost of personal products for the elderly couple can be quite expensive, such as Depends for both of them. And any other specialty items they might use.
