My Mom seems to be getting better on Hospice, since taking her off her meds. Now what?
We put mom on hospice after in and out of hospital and rehab for phemonia, broken rib, congestive heart failure. Now that hospice is in and she's off her meds she seems to be doing better except the dementia.
cd, one of the great things about Hospice, if she does continue to improve, they will discontinue their services...Better to have called them in and not need them, than to be searching frantically for services. I am sure the DX of the meds is helping..... but keeping in mind, congestive heart failure may be her main culprit health wise.... it is a roller coaster.... but wishing you and mom the best and please keep us updated.... you didn't jump the gun with getting Hospice involved... a loving daughter that simply wanted comfort care for her mom.... that is what I see.... Hugs..
Thanks. I've heard there can be highs and lows, that she might go up and down. Sometimes I think I called them in too early, but it's such a comfort to have them coming in, answering my questions and being there when things happen like her oxygen falling.
cd, I hope she is doing better. One thing I've noticed with my mother is that when something is changed, she may get better for a few days, then return to how it was before. I hope this doesn't happen with your mother, but don't be surprised or disappointed if it does. It may be that she was getting too many meds, so that eliminating some of them is helping her.
I am glad that hospice in with you now. I hope it makes things a lot easier.
