Should I give my Dad junk food after his bad check up results?

My father checked out as borderline diabetic, high cholesterol and high triglycerides, so i took him off potato chips, high sugar foods and fried food. Of course he will get occasional taquitos or something sweet, but he is a junk food junkie. He's 92 now...and I've always cooked and fed him at least one healthy meal a day. He knows his test results but keeps asking me for junk food! I'm not sure if I should just give him his junk or keep playing police? Advice please....

Just try to balance his junk food diet with as many good, nutritious meals as you can. But I would focus first on gradually decreasing the high sugar foods. I write gradually so he won't notice he's getting less sugar.

It sounds as though you are doing everything right. He's 92, let him enjoy his treats occasionally, however just as you wouldn't let yourself or your children live on a total junk diet, so to it should be with him. If you continue to plan plentiful, healthy meals his intake of junk will naturally be limited to special occasions and snacks.
Also, I find for myself when I go on a junk food binge it helps to limit the portions available, buy the single serving bag of chips not the family size bag, only make one piece of fried chicken per person, etc!

If he is 92 and got to that age eating chips, high sugar foods and fried food, then I would just let him enjoy those foods.

I see all the sweets my parents have on their grocery list, but I don't plan to say anything to them... Mom is 97 and Dad is 93. They must have been doing something right all those years :)
