The answer is yes. Medicare covers such things as Rollator walkers, BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THE DOCTOR TO SIGN OFF ON THE NEED.

Try local firehouses, lions clubs, red cross, visiting nurse organizations, community organizations to see if they have loan closets. Just a heads up about Medicare. You need to be careful what you get thru them. I had a loan closet where I worked. A woman came in whose husband was diagnoised with Parkinsons. She was aware of what stages he would be going thru and would borrow when he reached a certain stage. She knew that she would need a hospital bed eventually and knew that if she received certain equipment thru them, she wouldn't be able to get the bed.

Laura, is this for your mother in AL or for the facility at which you work? Assuming the latter, you raise an interesting question. I'm assuming that rehab facilities and PT facilities associated with hospitals purchase from DMEs, some of which are also affiliated with hospitals. Perhaps there's a corporate discount or different rate at which this kind of equipment is sold to medical facilities?

I'm a bit confused though; I googled Rehab without Walls and learned that it seems to be a fairly well established organization with facilities in different states. I would think there's a corporate office that handles all the purchasing.

Could you explain your situation a little bit more so we can understand if you're purchasing for your particular facility only, and whether or not you're able to get the benefit of what might be bulk discounts through the main office?

Does medicare or medicaid cover any of the equipment? Perhaps the agency on aging has some resources to help purchase the equipment. Sometimes families donate such devices after their loved ones pass.
