We live in Ohio. My husbands mother needs to move from a rehabilitation center to a nursing home. Can my husband be held financially responsible for the expense of the nursing home. She has a pension and receives social security.
Does he hold Power of Attorney for her? If at any point he needs to sign nursing home documents for her, he should seek legal advice on how to sign. He should NOT ever sign as responsible party.
There are apparently unscrupulous nursing homes that will attempt to get adult children to sign off as being financially responsible for their parents. If your parent needs nursing home care and cannot afford it or runs out of funds, you help her apply for Medicaid.

If his mom lives there and there comes a time when she can't pay your husband is still not on the hook for the payment.
