Can't sign for meds for my Father (92) at the VA. Why do we have power of attorney?

GA, and spend the client's money while revising the forms that become obsolete for whatever reason.

Glad, I think it's a federal government function as well. Years ago Dad completed and I submitted specific DPOA forms to IRS and Medicare. Then some years later I was advised that neither of them still accepted the original ones; apparently they need to be updated periodically.

I know that Vanguard (investments) also has its own forms.

I suppose the unique character (or more likely the in-house or contracted attorneys) each want to have their own version of what they feel is appropriate.

GA, interesting, I sure did not know that. Wonder why the VA has their own? Maybe because many service related injuries and conditions require special consideration?

The VA has its own power of attorney form that you'd have to complete and submit.

Is it a medical power of attorney? Does it specifically state that you can sign for meds for him? What do they expect you to do? Do they deliver? Could your Dad mark with an "x"? Then witnesses would be required. Call the doc and tell them the issue. Maybe there is something they can do.
