Once someone is in a nursing home what happens to all those many many doctors they had before? My mother, currently not in an NH but may be eventually, has a specialist for every body part it seems. Once she's in an NH what happens? Are family still expected to bring her to appointments or does the NH provide transportation to/from, or does specialized care get dropped?

FF, what about the oncologist and urologist, why didn't she still need them?
Maybe once in a nursing home some of the specialized services might not be needed. Guess it depends on your Mom's health and age.
Example my Mom now is in a skilled care center and is bedridden, and she is 97 so no need now for yearly dermatologist, nor seeing the gyn, nor having mammograms, yep was still having those done. No need for that oncologist or urologist. If Mom was still of clear mind and mobile, my gosh we would be at all those appointments.
Going to all those specialized doctor every year, it was like if I saw one more waiting room I would scream.... the interesting thing, it was a serious fall that caused Mom to now be bedridden, not any of the need to see all those doctors.
