Does any facility accept a person that smokes?

Our hospital says that too... but people just walk onto the public sidewalk and smoke. That said, most "care homes" know that the residents may smoke ( and drink a cocktail too!) so they , have a nearby area. The rehab at moms said no smoking, but the staff had a picnic table out back, and the residents went there or to the sidewalk out front. There was a bench there and and an ashtray. So did the AL where dads MC was located.

The main regional hospital in my area has No Smoking not only in the building but anywhere on the campus which includes the parking lots. If one wants to smoke, like the Staff, they would need to get in their car and go elsewhere.

In a memory care unit, I imagine it's not so much health hazard as fire hazard that's the main concern?

All of the Assisted Living, Independent living places I have seen, have outdoor smoking areas and they are used by the residents year round. I've never seen it at my cousin's Memory Care unit. I don't think the residents there remember that they smoke.

My experience is that the nursing home hold the patients cigarettes for them and at specific times of the day they are taken outside as a group for a short cigarette break.

Most places have an outside area for smokers, inpatient and staff. Both my mom;s rehab and the AL/MC were dad was at did. In this age group alot of people smoke, and no matter what they tell you, so do alot of the staff. So if they are mobile this should not be a problem. Most do not allow smoking in the building
