Will Medicaid pay for a single room in assisted living?

Most facilities reserve private rooms for private pay. Perhaps you can approach the director of your AL and ask for a roommate yourself. If you're proactive you will have more control of your living situation. I wish you lots of luck.

Bryan50, if you think the facility will move you to another room or bring in a room-mate, is there another person living at the facility that you would like to be your room-mate? If yes, and that person is agreeable, ask management if the two of you could share a room. That way you get to choose your roommate :)

Medicaid doesn't care if you share a room with four people or have your own room. They simply pay a flat amount. Most facilities cannot afford to accept that amount as full payment for a private room. But as JessieBelle says, it is up to them, so that is where to direct your question.
