Having recently sung the praises of Hospice (they were great with my Mom's care), I am puzzled by their lack of follow up. Mom passed at 1am Tuesday morning. I woke my dad and we called Hospice. The nurse came, did her report, destroyed narcotics, and stayed until Mom's body was removed. Then she left. We have heard nothing from Hospice since then. No follow up with my dad, who just lost his wife of sixty years. Fortunately, the caregivers at the ALF have been great about checking in on him.

Regarding Hospice maybe it varies from one Hospice group to another. The one I am using for my Mom helps the family through the bereavement process but usually this happens a month after the passing of a loved one to give the family time to grieve. They will supply grief counseling up to one year.
If Hospice gave you a booklet when you first signed up with them, check to see what they offer for bereavement.
