My Mother (73) is losing her sight, breast cancer survivor and she is very negative. Any advice?

No one can stay around or listen to her for too long. She's very loud and feel that everyone wants her money. Her husband walks with a walker and both now needs someone to drive them around. My mother is very hard to deal with and nobody wants to be around her.

Natpaulguy, please note that it isn't unusual for someone who is a breast cancer survivor to be negative.... because they are always looking over our shoulder to see if cancer is chasing after them again. It took me years to get to the "whatever" stage of recovery.

We are in constant reminder every time we take a shower or look in the mirror :(

Leave as soon as the negativity starts. If that means leaving supper on your plate, then do it anyway. Tell her you will come back when she is feeling better and not so negative. She'll catch on to this and change her tune. Tell her straight out "I don't want your money. I have my own" and mean it.
