How do I get my Mom to a doctor?

She is parnoid, sees people that are not there, lies, complains about everything Very anxious, rude to people. I do recognize my mom. She isn't the loving caring person anymore. I try to offer to take her to the Dr but she refuses. She gets angry and says I am not going to tell her what to do. I don't want to upset her. I have two brothers and we all agree its time to get her help but do not know what to do. We can't kidnap her and take her for help. Any Advice would would be so appreciative.

You might try calling your Area Agency on Aging and asking their advice. You might also call APS and ask them to do a "wellness check" on her if she hasn't contacted you. sometimes our parents will listen to authorities when they wont' listen to us!

Thank you so much for your response. She will mot even go yo a dr for a sinus condition she has had for weeks. I begged her to let me take her and she got furious with me. Then woukdnt answe my calls. I feel sonetimes she manipulates me. She is aways the victim.

There are still doctors that make house calls. Would that work??

If she has a doctor, send the doctor a letter, cerise mail, return receipt, outlining the problem. Describe her symptoms and ask how you can get her in to be checked out.

If she falls, call 911. Emts can be persuasive.

if this change in mental status is sudden, it might be the result of a uti. Would she agree to go for one specific test?
