What is the aid available to divorced spouse survivors, as in Medicare?

not sure if you can get the Aid and Attendance or not, but something you could check into

i'm not so sure about that you had to be married at the time of his death thing. I would check out VA benefits. Also if you are eligible for his Social Security benefits, you might be eligible for medicare under the same umbrella.

Did ur husband work as a civilian for 40 quarters (10yrs)? Were you married to him or more than 10years. If yes, you may be entitled to some Social Security. You need to be 62 or older. It will depend on who made the most. Medicare is an individual thing you get at 65. You husbands has nothing to do with you.

My sister was a government employee. She has died and her disabled son gets an annuity from her pension.

My first husband served in Viet Nam & I was able to get help for my disabled daughter till her death@ age 39.
I also received checks for my 3 children till they all were age 18, but for the disabled daughter. I never was entitled to a cent for myself.

Receiving benefits from the military requires you to have been married at least 20 yrs., he served 20 yrs. and you have not remarried. I have forgotten the other "20" (it read 20, 20, 20), unless the government has changed things. Also your ex-spouse should have taken out the SBP insurance policy and named you beneficiary. Contact the DOD finance dept. or the VA and see if you qualify or go onto va.gov. Good luck!

You can even be divorced and qualify for medical benefits.
Basic Rules:
20 years service by spouse
20 years married to
spouse while he/she was serving.
My mom paid almost nothing for medical with military Tricare coverage.

No the VA absolutely wants proof you are still married at the time of his death.
