Contact the Elderly Affairs Office in Lake Charles LA (337) 475-3500. They can check on his welfare.

If he won't see a doctor and doesn't want to stop drinking there is very very little you can do. I recommend you attend Al-Anon meetings so that you can learn how to distance yourself from him and start to care for yourself. You cannot change an alcoholic. Also most assisted living places do not allow alcohol...and a true alcoholic cannot quit cold turkey. He will need to make a decision to get himself into a detox and work on his sobriety. You need to realize that you cannot change him, you can only control how much you are willing to get involved...which by the little you have shared I would recommend that you detach yourself from him. Please read about alcoholism and how to survive when there is an alcoholic in your life.

He cannot stay at home any longer, because of the drinking drama that goes on. The whole house is done with it! He is staying at local hotels and drinking himself silly there. He cannot drive, due to the possibility that if he hits someone, I could be sued. I don't have any money, but I do have an advertising office that supports me to at least pay my bills. I don't make a "killing" but without it I would have no income at all. The hotels are getting expensive, naturally, so the SS check he gets pays the hotels and a bit for him to eat. Because he is not capable of living alone, he really needs a "home."

The big question here is if he has been declared legally incompetent and, if so, have you been named his healthcare POA or guardian. If he hasn't been declared incompetent, you cannot make him move anywhere he does not choose to. What you can do is choose how much you will personally do for him. Tell us a bit more and people may have some good advice that could help.
