What's with the counting and inability to sit still?

My Mom with advanced dementia stage 6 has over the last week started counting and become restless with difficulty sitting still. The counting will suddenly start and end and is random. For example: 32,33,34,99,98 etc then end. The inability to sit still is displayed by swaying or rocking in her chair. She does not seem to be in any physical pain and denies such when asked.
Any of you dealt with this type of behavior??

Thanks for your answers. I went and read up on self soothing behaviors and you may have something here. Mom doesn't really seem agitated but she certainly may have underlying anxiety. I can't imagine anyone with this disease not having some form of anxiety. After all she's always expecting relatives(long deceased) to come pick her up and take her home. Or that she needs to get to work or get the packing done etc etc. Also she moved into a Memory Care facility one month ago so she is still adjusting to that. Staff reports she is doing very well and is participating well in activities. If Mom has found a non harmful way to deal with anxiety I 'm glad. Certainly rather have her do the behaviors than have to take meds and deal with the potential side effects etc. I tried the counting and the rocking myself and you know they are kind of soothing. Perhaps that's why so many people love a good rocking chair.
Would really appreciate any other thoughts on the subject. Thanks
