Can I deduct on my taxes medical equipment I pay for for my non-dependent father?

I am staying with my father (94) on an indefinite basis. I am helping with his groceries and medical expenses, including medical equipment. I do NOT provide more than 50% of his living costs. Can I deduct his medical equipment that I pay for on my taxes as medical expenses?

totlotx, unless your Dad is a "dependent" on your income taxes, then and only then could you deduct any medical expenses, but it would also depend on your joint income. I would verify that with someone who does income taxes on a regular basis, or call the IRS hotline.

Not unless you get reimbursed by him for it. Is there some reason why you don't use his funds or charge account to pay for it directly so he has proof he paid for it? If he doesn't have the money, that's understandable.
