How do I properly care for my dementia mother who no longer bathes?

Dementia and the lack of every day hygiene.

From A loving son.

I have a solution for that because I just saw another post on what I knew nursing homes actually do when patients won't shower, just pick up the patient and put them in the shower then proceed to bathe them! This is sometimes the only solution when all other efforts have failed. Sometimes you just have to force the issue in order to get positive results

It's understandable if you are uncomfortable caring for your mom's hygiene or if your mom is uncomfortable having her adult son care for her hygiene. A Dr. can order a bath aide to come to where you live and give your mom a shower twice a week. They really do a nice job and your mom will feel so much better after it's done.
