How do you encourage someone with Alzheimer's who refuses to eat anything?

Has her swallowing been assessed? Do you know if she is able to chew and swallow or is it that she just isn't interested in eating. As dementia progresses, loss of appetite is expected. Have you discussed it with her doctor?

If you can find something they like get that into to them.
My mom likes the homemade smoothies I make. I get the plain yogurt and blend with frozen blue berries or strawberries and add to that 2 bananas, coconut milk, vanilla, sometimes coconut water if too thick. I try to use a sweetener as she always likes it sweet and at her age does it really matter to worry about sugar.... She also loves Chicken McNuggets! So if we are out in the car I will say are you hungry? She always says no. But when I bring up Chicken Mcnuggets she lights up. Oh I always love those! What ever she likes. Sometimes it seems like a broken record....I have no appetite.... but there are things they love. Try to find them and best of luck to you. Now the water.... that's another chapter!
