Curious if the nursing home my mother is in (TX) discharge her due to Medicaid denial?

I sure wish people would give more information with their questions. Was a Medicaid application completed and denied, or not? What assets does she have left to pay the nursing home with? Why aren't the assets being paid to the nursing home now? And yes, they have the right to discharge her because they have the right to be paid for the care they are providing.

You can talk with the facility director of nursing or admissions or social work to get the details. You need to know the reason for the Medicaid denial (was she in fact denied for Medicaid or are you asking us if that's the only possible reason?) to see if it can be appealed. But, do start looking around for other options too, in case the reason is they feel she has needs they cannot care for.

I stand corrected! The filial responsibility law was repealed in 1993!!
Lydia, find out why Medicaid rejected the application. Clear up the error or file an appeal.

UH OH. This can get very complicated, especially if you are POA. Texas is a state with "filial responsibility" laws. That means the nursing home can sue the children for the uncovered nursing home bill.
They won't throw her out in the street, but they can and will sue and collect.
