Any movers/auctioneers that specialize in helping seniors on a small fixed income pack and sell the contents of their home in York, PA?

My mom is about to move to an Assisted living facility and needs to move out of her house and sell her furniture and belongings of her house within a months time. Looking for a company that can pack her up and sell everything that can be sold..

Oh, I just remembered something else, women shelters will take good well cared for clean furniture. But I don't know if they come to pick up the items or not.

There are also consignment shops where you bring quality items and the store tries to sell them for you, and you get a percentage of the price. Check out any of the local consignment shop websites.

Another thought (at my age they don't come all together but in bits and pieces, just after I've clicked the "submit" button to post.

Churches might be more flexible; they could take the items to use for their members in need of assistance. Habitat for Humanity may possible assist; I believe they do have "resale" store. I'm not sure whether H/H would pack though.

FF's comment reminded me that I contacted a local veteran's organization to donate a lot of my sister's furniture and work-out equipment. They didn't do any packing, and there was at least one couch they didn't want because it was the dogs' couch, but they took a lot of stuff that I couldn't possibly have brought up from the basement or put outside for Salvation Army to pick up (it won't enter a house; the vets' organization did).

FF, that might be an option for you as well.

I did some background research before I called the vet's organization though, as there are a few so-called charities that are capitalizing on people's desire to help veterans but are frauds.

Sandra, Google "Senior Transitions" for your Mom's area and see what companies pops up. I don't know if there would be any discounts for seniors but it is worth a try.

I am into my third month of trying to find someone to help me sell my parent's furniture and items, but I am not having much luck in my area, which is a large metro area. The estate sale companies here are only interested in high end items or valuable antiques.... [sigh]. Looks like I will need to call Goodwill or some donation place that has a truck and some strong people to carry this furniture. Dad could use the tax donation write-off.

Companies that specialize in estate sales would be an option.
