How old is your wife? Is she getting Medicare? If so, her pulmonary doctor would address the issue of getting a portable generator, IF she meets Medicare criteria for oxygen during the day.
Medicare has made many changes in standards for payment of oxygen, setting different standards for night only oxygen and 24/7 oxygen. Ask your wife's pulmonary doctor if she meets the day standards. If she does, she could either get the cumbersome tanks, or a portable concentrator (not a generator).
Please tell us more about your wife's situation, especially if she's on Medicare. Her situation will determine what her pulmonary doctor can prescribe and what Medicare will reimburse.
