I've had children and I'm not squeamish. But I know the day is coming where I will be responsible for her hygiene. We are both uncomfortable with the idea. How I get her mind prepared and my mind prepared for the first time. I'm hoping it would get easier for both of us in time. Does it?

I may be pressed in to duty again at some point but only on a temporary basis. There are some simple tricks to preserve modesty. It's just common sense stuff. Use easy to remove gowns and leave it on until she is ready to get in the shower. If she is capable of washing herself just make sure she has what she needs. Stand just outside the slightly opened bathroom door, listen and supervise from there.
Personally, I would hire a CNA bath aid for about $20 per hour.
